MCTA members serve 2 million customers in all 83 Michigan counties – about 85 percent of all cable customers. The cable industry pays more than $80 million annually in franchise fees to local governments.
MCTA members are also the primary funders of Michigan Government Television (MGTV), a non-partisan cable television network that provides live and taped coverage of all branches of Michigan government without commentary, analysis or editing for content, which means that viewers see everything on the record. MCTA provides elected and appointed officials and others who would influence public policy a direct conduit to the audience without filtering or distorting their points of view.
MGTV was created by cable companies, and receives its primary funding from Comcast, Charter Communications, Bright House Networks, Broadstripe and Time Warner Cable.
